Worn tires -danger. Keep an eye on your tire wear. Poorly maintained or old tires no longer adhere sufficiently to the road, especially rainy weather. If the road is too wet, you risk aquaplaning: your car slides on the film of water on the surface of the road, and you can lose control. Tires Maintained For Good Road Holding
To evaluate the wear of your tires, nothing could be easier: compare the main grooves of your tires. They must be changed as soon as the grooves lose their depth. In theory, the depth of the grooves should be greater than 1.6 mm. The more the grooves disappear, the less the tire evacuates water, and the more you are exposed to the risk of losing control of your vehicle. If one of your tires has cuts, change it. Remember that tires are changed in pairs.
Monitor Your Tire Pressure
Beware of misconceptions: even new tires lose air. You should therefore check the pressure regularly. Depending on the model of your car, the ideal tire pressure varies between 1.8 and 3.4 bar. Check your vehicle’s service manual. Checking your tire pressure should be done when cold. For a vehicle that has just been driven, the pressure measurement is distorted by around 0.3 bar. Don’t deflate your tires, though.
Over-inflation also causes stability problems on the road. Only overloaded vehicles can have over-inflated tires to compensate.
How To Maintain Your Car Engine?
Drain the engine. Your vehicle’s engine is under intense stress. Diesel or gasoline, it’s essential to take care of your car’s engine. To optimize its operation and prolong its life, you should change the oil every 5,000 km to 7,500 km, depending on the age of the vehicle. Engine oil lubricates all parts and cleans the engine of impurities. Remember to check the oil level so as not to damage the engine’s mechanics.
Gasoline Or Diesel Engine
Whether your car is equipped with a petrol or diesel engine, the idea is to have the vehicle serviced every 8 months. Beyond the technical inspection or the traditional oil change, there are a number of points to check: change the oil filter the pollen filter, check the condition of the battery, monitor the brake fluid, check the timing belt and hoses.
Every 3 years or 60,000 km, change the spark plugs on petrol engines and the diesel filter. A clogged filter or old spark plugs can lead to excessive fuel consumption. Bad for your engine, bad for your wallet.
